INFORMATION THAT WILL BE ADDED TO THE 4th EDITION As of the printing of this publication, the Illinois legislature has not renewed legislation that gave an additional exemption to Cook County homeowners. Commonly called the 7% Solution, commercial property owners (who saw their taxes rise because of this legislation) have feverishly lobbied not to have the exemption renewed.
